1

We confirm the facility, discharge entrance, destination, passenger mobility needs, equipment, and expected release time.

2

Pickup Coordination

The passenger, family, or facility should notify us when the patient is cleared and ready for transportation.

3

Safe Boarding

Appropriate boarding assistance, wheelchair lift operation, and securement procedures are completed before departure.

4

The passenger may be assisted from the vehicle to the destination entrance when the route is safe and accessible.

AccessWay provides non-emergency transportation and mobility assistance. Drivers do not provide medical treatment, clinical monitoring, patient lifting, medication assistance, or emergency care.

OUTPATIENT PROCEDURES

Transportation After Sedation or Anesthesia

Hospitals and outpatient facilities may require a responsible adult to accompany a patient after sedation, anesthesia, endoscopy, colonoscopy, surgery, or certain procedures.

AccessWay transportation does not automatically satisfy a facility’s responsible-adult discharge policy. The passenger or booking party must confirm all discharge requirements directly with the healthcare facility before scheduling transportation.

Confirm Before Booking

  • Whether an escort is required
  • Whether the escort must remain during the trip
  • Whether the facility will release the passenger to a driver
  • Whether hands-on supervision is required
  • Whether the passenger can safely enter the destination
  • Whether a caregiver will be present upon arrival
Transportation may be declined when the passenger requires medical supervision, physical lifting, emergency care, or assistance beyond the scope of non-emergency transportation.

DISCHARGE TIMING

Planning for Hospital Delays

Estimated Discharge Time

Provide the best available estimate, but understand that discharge paperwork, pharmacy, equipment, and medical clearance may take longer than expected.

Ready-for-Pickup Notification

The passenger, family, or facility should communicate when the passenger is fully cleared and ready to leave.

Advance Scheduling

Advance requests are strongly recommended. Same-day discharge transportation is subject to driver and vehicle availability.

Hospital delays, waiting time, parking, pickup-location changes, and additional trip time may affect availability and pricing.
